# ADR-005: Legacy fallback

**Decision:** mode flag defaults to Legacy; NextPilot requires explicit selection. **Status:** accepted. **Why:** startup evidence is incomplete and production configuration must not be changed implicitly. **Consequence:** launcher must not start AutoCAD twice after a Next failure.
